Bowl Blanks for sale

Since I get nowhere enough time on the lathe, I seem to always have more bowl blanks cut than I need. So I've put up some for sale here. I've got more than what's here, so if you don't see what you're looking for, contact me at bowl_blanks@rziha.net.

Western Red(aromatic) Cedar
8x9x5
$20

Nice half log with bark attached. When this log was sawn, 2" of pith was cut out of the middle leaving little pith remaining on either side. Small crack on one end. All the cut surfaces have been anchorsealed or dipped in wax.

Western Red (aromatic) Cedar
10x11x5
$25
SOLD
The other half of the above log. Nice red color, a little pith left, shallow crack running down the center. The "hump" on the outside edge would make an interesting natural edge bowl. All cut surfaces have been anchorsealed or waxed.

Western Red (aromatic) Cedar
12x12x6
$40
The big half of a cedar log, this has a chunk of pith on one end. It was waxed on the ends as a log then anchorsealed about a week after it was cut, so the top is faded and there are some suface cracks, but it's sound inside. This would make a beautiful large bowl. Was logged last December, cut into a blank in June.

Western Red (aromatic) Cedar
11.5x15x3-5
$30
The other half of the above log, but with almost no pith. The sun faded the surface, but this will make a great bowl. Was logged last December, cut into a blank in June.

Black Locust
17x6x4
$35
SOLD
This black locust cant is a solid log that's been squared up. It's 5yrs dry in an AZ garage. The ends were sealed with wax and have no significant checking, but there are some surface cracks. May be cut into smaller pieces upon request/offer. Some bits of punky wood that could be stabilized with CA (top right of first picture).

Black Locust
15x12x6.25
$65
This large blank is a crotch piece that's been drying for about 5 years in AZ, so it's dry. It'll be a beautiful bowl. The ends were waxed when it was cut, but there is some minor surface cracking that should turn out. If you've got a large lathe and want to turn a big bowl, this blank is for you. Because you don't get large black locust trees without rotten cores, this has the pith in it.

Honey Locust
9.5x10x4
$20
SOLD
This log was cut from a *large* >30" tree. It has an interesting void in one corner that could be turned away or worked in as a feature. Some small end checking, no pith. Tree was felled in Fall 2007, blank was cut and sealed in Jan 2008. Both ends and much of the faces were waxed.
bb-hloc-0002
Honey Locust
9x10x3
$15
SOLD
Part of the same tree as the previous blank. Both ends and much of the faces were waxed.
bb-hloc-0003
Honey Locust
14.5x15x4.5
$60
SOLD
Part of the same tree as the previous blanks. Both ends and much of the faces were waxed. This massive blank is too large to even mount on my lathe- I'd have to cut it into smaller bowls.

Koa
8.5x7x3.5-4.25
$35
This is a block of Koa I picked up, but haven't had a chance to turn so I'll put it up here. It's a nice sized block that shows a little curl.
bb-koa-0002
Koa
3x3x7.5
$15
This is more of a box blank than a bowl blank, but you could saw it up into almost a dozen pens or a couple small boxes. It shows a faint bit of curl-might be more inside.

Bark has a small nice cut in it so this may not work for a natural edge bowl. There's a little bit of pith on the skinny end a tight pith with a single crack in it.

Great crotch with a large bark inclusion at the fork. Cracks in the long branch crotch would probably turn away.

Another great crotch. There's a crack at the fork and a large pith crack in the small arm. The long arm also has a pith w/ radial cracking. Would be challenging to turn but beautiful.
